December 1, 2007
SEATTLE, December 1, 2007 -- WELL MEALS 4 U, a division of The Close Group, Inc., today announced the launch of a meal preparation company that helps people balance work and home life. The venture came in response to consumer demand for alternatives to fast-food and take-out.
"Food industry trade publications like QSR magazine show that take-out and drive-through sales have risen from $104 million in 2000 to $274 million in 2005." Amanda Close, president of WELL MEALS 4 U and The Close Group. "WELL MEALS 4 U is part of our strategy of providing services for busy professionals and homemakers. Balancing the duties between work and home can improve your life and even make you more productive at work too."
Like many working families, Amanda Close found that the demands of a long work day left little time for grocery shopping and preparing a home-cooked meal, but that is exactly what she and her husband Mark wanted each night.
“We were eating out too much, and it seemed like one of the hardest parts of the day was driving home and trying to figure out what was for dinner,” Amanda said. "Worst yet, sometimes we'd opt for fast-food as a matter of convenience which left our entire family feeling unsatisfied."
The WELL MEALS 4 U membership program allows people to quickly assemble a month's worth of meals that can be enjoyed by friends and family at a later date. Through an easy-to-use online subscription service, members can search recipes, download shopping lists and save money by preparing meals in bulk quantities and storing for later use. WELL MEALS 4 U customizes meals for members based upon their palates and specific dietary needs.
"Many people already use the Internet to as a trusted resource of information, but what differentiates WELL MEALS 4 U from other online sources is that all recipes are healthy and good for you. This is a very personalized meal preparation service," Amanda added.
The meal prep business is growing nationwide in spite of competition from fast food restaurants and supermarkets offering hot bars and deli foods. Recent reports have shown there to be 426 meal preparation businesses with 1,300 locations across the United States -- proof that people are busier than ever and like the idea of good, wholesome food.
“This is a way to get a healthy dinner on the table and something that you feel good about serving to your family because it has been cooked right there for the first time,” Amanda said. “It's amazing how many hours you save with a little organization in terms of grocery shopping, meal preparation and meal storage.”
